Yes a pigeon, I’m pretty sure he’s probably outside waiting for me right now” amusement evident in his voice, it was obvious he didn’t mind the tag along, Lucci had absolutely nothing against animals, sure dogs weren’t exactly his favourite but he’d tolerate them for the sake of their loyalty and the genuine love they seemed to so effortlessly give out.

Birds though, no… he loved birds, freedom was granted to so few things, birds seemed to be the only ones given full access to it.

His favourite though, had to be cats. The independence they had, the confidence, ferocity, they took care of themselves, nobody had to look after them

Lucci enjoyed their company solely for the fact that they were self-sustaining survivors. He respected it.

Yet this little one seemed so intent to perch on his shoulder, as if purposefully giving him the option to take that freedom from him. What an odd little bird. “He looks normal to me, well… he does seem to be wearing a piece of fabric round his neck though” If Lucci didn’t know any better he’d say the little guy was wearing a tieIf we eat on the balcony he might show up” Maybe he could show Monet that way? It was a nice night, and that was the original plan. He did seem shy around the greenette though, never appearing when the woman’s around…

Handing over the food, plastic container by plastic container with very little fuss, like clockwork even he let her plate the food, she had better presentation than he did anyway. “—Oh I almost forgot, that court date next Friday? It was moved to this Tuesday due to threats to the accused, chief wanted me to make sure you’d be ready. Merlôt sounds perfect.” he mentioned while stealing a chip, adding the end on as an afterthought. Very very real threats had been made, and nobody wanted civilians getting injured should any incidents occur, so naturally they’d discreetly moved the date closer.

Living across the hall was one thing, but Lucci found the exceptionally easy friendship so much more beneficial given the fact that they often worked together too, Lucci closed the cases; Monet made sure the accused went down for it, a beautiful partnership, it’d been a surprising coincidence that they’d moved across the hall from each other.

They’d hadn’t actually spoken to each other before it, besides of course the odd work related conversation. What a difference simply living across the hall could make. “Are you ok with the move?”

Monet had been listening to the story of that pigeon with a piece of fabric around his neck with genuine curiosity. The small things that broke the routine were cherished by her, and at the top of her head she couldn’t think of anything able to break a routine as a stalker pigeon with a piece of fabric as necklace.

— ❝ Sure, let’s eat  in the balcony then.❞

She agreed whilst she put the food in the last plastic container on the plate and the plate on the tray. Getting the Merlôt bottle from across the room and the bottle opener she set it all in the trays, ready to be taken to Lucci’s balcony.

— ❝ Tuesday? I’m gonna have to make lots of changes then.❞

Monet wasn’t against, but she would have to call Marco and change the trial she had that Tuesday to another day, hopefully within that week. She already knew the blond wasn’t going to be happy.

— ❝ I will call Marco and tell you if it’s possible or not.❞

He was the one taking the victim’s case, so he needed his approval before making the change. Grabbing a tray she expected for Lucci to grab his and lead the way to his apartment. She obviously had been in his terrace lots of times, but she thought it was just polite to let him walk in first.
