Mister Rayleigh:

Rayleigh didn’t do anything to attract any unwated attention. Of course, he’d seen many up-and-coming pirates and often conversed with a few people who’d heard about him or admired him so this wasn’t anything new.

The old man smiled at her. She was young and very appealing to the eye. she didn’t seem all too pirate-like and he didn’t detect any signs of a crew. But, looks could be very deceiving.

“I’m just a simple coating mechanic now.” He laughed. “So there is no need to be so formal.”

Independently how humble his words were  Monet felt honored for meeting such a legend. Even when she lived in her hometown, in that island forgotten by the gods, she had heard stories of the Dark King, a man that had mastered Haki as no one else had done before. Monet remembered reading her brother the news that spoke of how dangerous that man was, but instead of feeling scared, just as that article was meant to do, they felt excited.

She remembered her brother filling the walls of their hideout with newspaper cuts, and most of those spoke of that man. Gol D. Roger and him had been the ones that encouraged the great era of pirates, and in an odd way Monet felt thankful.

It had been easier to survive, to keep going despite how awfully life had treated them when they read about those men living adventures, fighting against the world and being free.

A quiet chuckle left her and she nodded lightly.

— ❝ Sorry.❞

She apologized, stretching her hand to greet that man properly.

— ❝ How should I address you then?❞
