Interesting, that was what came to mind when she gave him quite a literal cold shoulder, cold enough for him to consider sprouting fur to warm himself.
Now what exactly, would a logia of that power, be doing all the way out here, Lucci knew logia’s, they were power hungry, never something as simple as town folk, either pirate or high up Marine and she sure as hell didnt hold the countenance for Marine.
Now facing the facts, as a high up Marine, she’d know him, she’d have likely seen his face somewhere, especially recently with the watch posts sprouting like weeds in search of him and his team, so that left pirate, he’d never seen her face in the wanted posters that occasionally crossed his desk in between mission so… spy.
Ex-Pirate spy with a child… hiding away… potentially left the game due to pregnancy and because no wanted poster, no bounty hunters, do we have a high score?
Breathing the air, the scent of food seemed to be emanating from the east, the direction the cold had come from, the town however to the north, the direction the greenette seemed to be heading in. Perhaps a diversion? just in case he were to follow? Lead the stranger away from home to protect family.
A useful tactic, against someone who couldn’t track. He however, could.
“You’re welcome“ he murmured to her back, no sense in ignoring her good manners, pirates weren’t usually ones to use them "…Anytime”
Finding out more about this woman wasn’t necessarily a necessity, but it was something that could potentially fill his time until the Marines on the next island moved on, he wouldn’t risk them sailing on just yet, they couldn’t afford to come across a search party this far into the New World, the majority of the others had yet to master Busoshoku Haki should a logia be aboard their ships a factor being more likely this far in.
This little discovery was sure to fill his time until they were safe to move.
It was an uneasy and unwelcome feeling the one she had as she headed to the village. She had Lynette on her arm, with her diapared butt firmly secured with her hand as the toddler played with two strands of her hair, babbling, but occasionally Monet would caught a ‘kitty’ and that would make her twice as wary.
Monet didn’t thought that man would simply show should he be following them, but that was enough to make her much more aware of her surroundings. She assumed that he had to be close, for she couldn’t get rid of that feeling. Call it Haki, or a sixth sense or woman’s intuition, but something wasn’t right there, and even if she tried to forget about it, she simply couldn’t.
That feeling didn’t disappear, not even as she shopped some groceries in the village as Lynette slept, with her head resting on Monet’s shoulder. It took for her around an hour to shop everything she would need for cooking, but that sensation, the one of being observed, didn’t go away.
Carrying two heavy bags full of food with her left hand and a slept toddler on her right Monet left the village. She was aware that like that she was vulnerable, slower, and that in around ten minutes the weight on her left arm would start to be a bother. For making everything worse that uneasy feeling was still there, and Monet certainly couldn’t ignore it any longer. If something had to happen it better be now.
She placed the bags on the floor and adjusted Lynette with her left hand as she looked at the dark trees.
— ❝ If you are going to follow me you could at least have the decency of helping me with these bags.❞
Her tone was serious and cold. If that Zoan was anywhere close she’d rather know where he was and what was he up to. Monet wasn’t going to start a fight with Lynette there, but she wasn’t going to tolerate that stupid situation to go any further.
